Second Consecutive Year Organization Leads in Thought Leadership, Innovation, Quality Care in Reaction Data Survey

Kaiser Permanente, for the second consecutive year, is the top health care organization overall for thought leadership, innovation, and cost of high-quality care, according to a survey of the nation’s hospital leaders.

Surveyed by Reaction Data, a research organization specifically for the health care market, 285 hospital executives from a variety of perspectives — CEOs, heads of marketing, chief medical officers, etc. — were asked questions such as, “How familiar are you with this hospital organization and how favorable is your opinion of them?” and “Which hospital organizations come to mind as a model of innovation, thought leadership, and providing quality care at a sustainable cost?”

For the second straight year, Kaiser Permanente, supported by the physicians and care teams of the Permanente Medical Groups, came out on top with a rating of 23.5, ahead of Mayo Clinic (22.5) and Cleveland Clinic (17.4). Kaiser Permanente’s score represented a 14 percent increase over last year’s score of 20.6.

According to Reaction Data’s annual report, “when it comes to controlling costs while maintaining a high-level of patient care, Kaiser Permanente is the runaway winner, according to its peers.”

In an effort to underscore the accuracy of its research and results, Reaction Data pointed out that the survey respondents “could choose any hospital organization they wanted to, (but) only 17 of the 285 hospital leaders chose their own organizations.”
