Kaiser Permanente Medicare health plans are highly rated
Kaiser Permanente’s Medicare Advantage health plans are highly rated, according to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) 2025 Star ratings.
Every year, Medicare evaluates plans based on a 5-star rating system. Kaiser Permanente Medicare health plans in California, Georgia, Hawaii, and the Mid-Atlantic states (Maryland, Virginia, and Washington, D.C.) received 4.5 out of 5 Stars. Hawaii Medicare plan ranked highest in the state, while the California, Georgia, and Mid-Atlantic States plans tied for highest in their respective states. Colorado, Northwest (Oregon and southwest Washington), and Washington state rated 4 out of 5 Stars.
Compared to last year, Kaiser Permanente’s overall ratings improved in 6 out of 7 markets. These ratings are the result of the collective effort across our organization to improve Medicare performance consistent with our values and dedication to putting patients’ interests first.
“Kaiser Permanente is proud to be recognized for providing high-quality care and service, which is what our Medicare members expect and deserve,” said Andrew Bindman, MD, executive vice president and chief medical officer for Kaiser Foundation Health Plans and Hospitals. “We understand our members’ care needs change as they age. We provide a personalized approach that meets each member’s unique needs.”

Consistently a top choice
“These ratings underscore the clinical excellence and coordinated care experience provided by our physicians, nurses, clinicians, and front-line staff,” says Nancy Gin, MD, FACP, executive vice president and chief quality officer for The Permanente Federation. “Our integrated system enables our primary care and specialty physicians, pharmacists, therapists, and others to work together to ensure the best outcomes for our patients.”
To develop the ratings, CMS considers many categories. Areas include care and service, how well health plans keep members healthy and manage their chronic conditions, patient experiences, customer service, patient access, and pharmacy services. Kaiser Permanente’s star ratings show the value of our integrated health care organization, which brings these services seamlessly together — in many cases all in one location — and puts our patients at the center of care.
