Focus on Kaiser Permanente’s Physician Hiring
A recent Sacramento Business Journal story, “Kaiser hires doctors at furious pace,” looked at the high rate of physician hires at the Permanente Medical Groups (PMGs), especially in California.
Robert Pearl, MD, executive director and CEO of The Permanente Medical Group and president and CEO of the Mid-Atlantic Permanente Medical Group, says in the article that physicians are attracted to the PMGs because of the pay, good hours, Kaiser Permanente’s electronic health record system, and lack of administrative interference. “If a doctor wants to order an expensive test or to admit a patient to the hospital, that’s up to him or her,” Dr. Pearl says.
