In the 2024 National Committee for Quality Assurance’s annual report, Kaiser Permanente’s commercial and Medicare plans rated highest or tied for highest among competitors in every geographical region we serve.

NCQA evaluated more than 1,000 health plans – including Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial plans – for overall prevention, treatment, and patient experience. Each plan was given a rating of 1 to 5 stars, with 5 being the best.

“We’re proud of these ratings,” said Nancy Gin, MD, FACP, executive vice president and chief quality officer for The Permanente Federation. The Permanente Federation is the national umbrella organization for the more than 24,000 physicians who provide care to Kaiser Permanente’s members. “They reflect the expertise of our highly skilled doctors, nurses, and other clinicians and team members. And they demonstrate our ongoing efforts to address health care disparities.”

More 5-star plans than any other health organization

Only 5 health plans in the country received 5 out of 5 stars, and 2 of the 5 were Kaiser Permanente plans: Kaiser Permanente’s Medicare plan in Colorado, and the commercial plan in the Mid-Atlantic States.

For the ninth ratings cycle in a row, Kaiser Permanente has more 5-star and 4.5-star plans combined than any health care organization in the nation.

“The NCQA ratings once again show our dedication to providing high-quality care to our members across all of our markets,” said Andrew Bindman, MD, executive vice president and chief medical officer for Kaiser Foundation Health Plans and Hospitals. “Our integrated model is designed to reliably deliver high-quality care to our members.”
