HIMSS: What’s Next in Healthcare Transformation?
August 11, 2021 @ 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm PDT
Health care transformation took flight during the COVID-19 pandemic, as organizations rapidly scaled up their digital investments and capabilities, turning to telehealth and remote monitoring to deliver care while protecting patients, physicians, and health care staff. Borrowing a term from the finance world, a “Black Swan Event” is a metaphor describing an unprecedented and unpredictable event at a point in time. COVID-19 epitomizes this metaphor by creating chaos, uncertainty, and so much more beyond what was expected or anticipated. In this HIMSS21 panel discussion, “A ‘Black Swan Event’ Gave Healthcare Transformation Wings: What’s Next?”, Permanente physician leaders will speak to how Kaiser Permanente’s COVID-19 response both elevated patient and physician expectations for health-related technologies and spurred a transformative mindset focused on innovation. This focus on innovation is likely to significantly improve the quality, convenience, accessibility, and affordability of health care delivery for years to come. During this session, speakers will also discuss how technology will continue to transform health care in the second half of 2021 and beyond.
