Over the next decade, nontraditional primary care physicians could capture around 30% of the U.S. market. For a decade now, primary care has seen a steady stream of new business and clinical models, including those from advanced primary care doctors, retailers, and payers. By 2030, the space won’t look the same at all, with expectations that nontraditional primary care physicians will make up as much as a third of the market. Payers, health systems, and investors will need to make strategic choices to determine where to play and how to win over the next decade.
