WASHINGTON
Stephen Parodi, MD, executive vice president of External Affairs, Communications, and Brand, The Permanente Federation, represented Permanente Medicine at the annual Partnership for Quality Care Meeting – “The Path Forward for Health Care” on September 28 in Washington, DC. He served as a discussion leader representing Kaiser Permanente on PQC’s Antibiotic Stewardship Initiative.

The meeting’s special guests included U.S. Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY), U.S. Sen. Patty Murray (D-WA), and Sarah Kliff from Vox Media.

In light of the withdrawal of the Graham-Cassidy bill, Sen. Schumer warned the audience to “not get complacent.” Sen. Murray discussed the efforts by the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pension (HELP) committee to address market stabilization measures related to the Affordable Care Act. Bernard Tyson, CEO of Kaiser Foundation Health Plan/Hospitals, who recently testified at the HELP Committee, addressed the conference regarding the current state of the health care market.

This annual event provides an environment for health care providers and health care workers dedicated to guaranteed, affordable, high quality health care to engage at the Kaiser Permanente Center for Total Health.

Permanente Medical Group members and other visitors to Washington, DC, are welcome to tour the Center for Total Health – requests may be made online at k-p.li/cthtour.
