Jennifer S. Lee, MD, joins Alliance of Community Health Plans as chief medical officer
Jennifer S. Lee, MD, has joined the Alliance of Community Health Plans (ACHP) as chief medical officer. In this role, Dr. Lee, who continues to practice as an emergency medicine physician at Mid-Atlantic Permanente Medical Group, will help the trade association advocate for higher quality standards and patient-centered health care policies while driving health plan performance improvement.
ACHP represents provider-led health organizations and includes some of the nation’s top-performing nonprofit health plans as its members. The group recently co-authored an op-ed in MedPage Today, calling for health industry and federal action to address the maternal health crisis, and published a policy brief about advancing health equity by reducing barriers in the health care system.
In addition to being a Permanente physician, Dr. Lee is an associate professor of emergency medicine at George Washington University and a visiting scholar at the National Academy of Medicine, where she focuses on value initiatives and alternative payment models to promote population health. Dr. Lee has held previous leadership roles such as Medicaid director for the Commonwealth of Virginia and deputy under secretary for health for Policy and Services at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.
