With COVID-19 cases surging across the country, physicians and medical teams are working to raise awareness around how people can do their part to slow the virus from spreading. The #MedicineForMasks social media campaign has emerged with Permanente physicians joining others in the medical community to increase awareness about the importance of wearing masks as a key safety measure and one of the ways to slow the spread of the coronavirus.

The initiative was kicked off by Los Angeles County Medical Association President Diana Shiba, MD, and 7 other medical society presidents …

… and Southern California Permanente Medical Group leaders and physicians have been quick to show their support for the cause …

… many Permanente colleagues quickly followed suit by sharing their mask selfies or “maskies” …

… with doctors from outside Kaiser Permanente hopping aboard the campaign as well …

… and while we may not be able to enjoy our usual holiday traditions this year, #MedicineForMasks shows there are still ways to connect and care for each other in doing our part to slow COVID-19.
