Stephen Parodi, MD, recently told MSNBC that increasing vaccine supply will be key to battling variants of the coronavirus as they begin to emerge.

“We’re constrained by the vaccine supply and that really is a national-level consideration and question,” said Dr. Parodi, who serves as The Permanente Medical Group’s associate executive director and national infectious disease leader for Kaiser Permanente.

Invoking the federal Defense Production Act to get more supply to all the states “is going to be really important,” he said.

Dr. Parodi added that he is “raising his hand” to accept any additional vaccine that becomes available. “We are ready and willing to give more vaccine if it comes our way.”
