Kaiser Permanente introduced MyChart, which features advanced message and in-basket management, to the Mid-Atlantic States…

Raising the bar for high-quality care
The Federation continued to advance Kaiser Permanente’s cancer technology portfolio in molecular genomics diagnostic digital solutions, care coordination, virtual second opinions, symptom management, colon cancer algorithms, and cancer survivorship solutions. Additionally, Federation teams completed implementation of Kaiser Permanente’s National Cancer Expert Program across the organization and supported a program for 11 subspecialties.
To address care gaps, the Federation’s quality leaders delivered clinical recommendations, provided resources, and updated care plans for genetic disorders such as familial hypercholesterolemia and Lynch syndrome. They also deployed a genomics module for electronic health records and developed new clinical trainings for obstetric hemorrhage, anesthesia, and post-abortion care. More than 44,000 clinicians received continuing medical education credit, and about 1,000 physicians maintained certification.
Advancing high-quality care extends to supporting community health. The Federation helped launch the virtual Food is Medicine Center of Excellence. This central resource enables members to access evidence-based nutrition interventions and programs aimed at promoting healthier eating habits and improving overall health.
New processes to maximize impact
To further shape the future of health care on a national scale, the Federation participated in the National Committee on Vital and Health Statistics’ workgroup to inform International Classification of Diseases, 11th Revision (ICD-11) policy. The committee also continued its work to support accurate and complete clinical coding in the industry. This included creating new classifications for feeding and eating disorders (in collaboration with the American Psychiatric Association) and recognizing remission status in type 2 diabetes standardized coding, which will improve the reporting of these conditions in alignment with current clinical guidelines.
The Federation developed and revised key performance indexes for Medicare claims processing as part of the Dignified Journeys end-of-life care program. This work helped align market-level measurement and expand the scope of the program to include the serious illness population. Addititionally, the Federation led analytical strategic planning and implementation of Medicare claims processing for a new kidney transplant initiative.
