Health equity

Health equity is a hallmark of Permanente Medicine. Since Kaiser Permanente’s founding in the 1940s, providing care to all is a principle from which we have never wavered. We strive to deliver culturally competent care to all populations in our communities because our patients represent countless cultures across the globe — and because it’s just the right thing to do.

This focus on equity means many things: From creating medical facilities that are welcoming and accessible, to researching and understanding different conditions that affect different populations, to addressing systemic biases that can affect the care delivered to different communities of color, we work hard to ensure more than 12 million patients and their communities feel seen and heard.
