President and Executive Medical Director
Greg Berman, MD, MBA, is the president and executive medical director (EMD) for Kaiser Permanente Colorado (KPCO) and the Colorado Permanente Medical Group (CPMG). Dr. Berman also sits on the KP Medical Foundation (KPMF) leadership team and KPMF Board of Directors, and champions value-based care. He began his initial 4-year term as EMD on March 28, 2026.
Dr. Berman believes Kaiser Permanente’s competitive advantage is also what is often invisible to our members — our integrated care. Finding ways to both increase integration and make it more visible and transparent to our members is the key to our success. He maintains a clinical practice as an anesthesiologist to ensure he remains closely connected to the essential work that physicians and teams do daily in service of our members
Dr. Berman most recently served as interim president and EMD, in addition to vice president and executive medical director of operations (EMDO), a role he held since 2022. As EMDO he was accountable for all primary care and specialty operations, integrated strategy development, execution on member experience, access and medical informatics, KPCO acceleration, and alignment and partnership with marketing, sales, and business development. A significant milestone during his tenure has been executing the region’s hospital strategy which involves transitioning physicians to 2 new hospital systems. He drove an organizational strategy in care delivery by supporting initiatives that prioritize quality, member experience, access, growth, and affordability.
Dr. Berman has held several additional leadership roles since joining CPMG in 2011 as an anesthesiologist in the Operating Room and Labor and Delivery. In 2021, Dr Berman worked as the vice president of Acceleration and Enablement. Prior to that he served as senior transformation officer for KPCO and then chief acceleration officer where he led development and execution of initiatives to drive efficiencies, reduce costs, and facilitate better care and service to members.
Other leadership roles include serving as medical director of the Ambulatory Surgery Center at Franklin Medical Offices, department and regional value advisor of Ambulatory Surgery, and chair of the Inter-Regional Ambulatory Surgery Physician Leaders Group. While serving in these roles he employed his medical expertise and business acumen to lead venue management and surgical internalization initiatives, making care more affordable and efficient while achieving quality outcomes.
Dr. Berman earned his bachelor’s degree, medical degree, and Master of Business Administration from Indiana University. He completed an internship in transitional medicine at Indiana University and residency in clinical anesthesiology at the University of Colorado. He is board certified in anesthesiology.
Dr. Berman loves spending time with his wife and 2 children, as well as in the garden with his dog, cat, 5 chickens, and 3 ducks. He is an outdoor enthusiast who enjoys skiing, hiking, fishing, and camping in the mountains. Dr. Berman also appreciates music and takes pride in his record, concert ticket, and guitar collection.
