Getting to Net Zero: The Health Equity Imperative
June 9, 2022 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm PDT
In early June, Kaiser Permanente will announce plans to achieve a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 50% in 2030 and its aim to achieve net zero emissions by 2050 and to further protect its members and communities from the worst health consequences of climate change.
This announcement is timed to meet a U.S. Health and Human Services deadline to sign its climate pledge, which will go beyond removing carbon from the organization’s energy use and direct greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions to effectively eliminate greenhouse emissions.
As a followup to this announcement, Kaiser Permanente is set to host a panel discussion, Getting to Net Zero: The Health Equity Imperative, on June 9, ahead of a White House conference on health care and climate action. The event, to be streamed on LinkedIn Live, will feature Kaiser Permanente leaders as well as Admiral Rachel Levine, Assistant Secretary for Health, and other leading voices in the climate and health movement.
