Dorian Reid, MD, is interim chief executive officer and executive medical director (EMD) of the Washington Permanente Medical Group (WPMG).
Dr. Reid leads WPMG’s clinicians, including physicians, physician assistants, optometrists, midwives, and psychologists to deliver high-quality care for members in Washington state.
Dr. Reid joined WPMG in 2014 as an orthopedic surgeon in Tacoma and served as an orthopedic service line medical director, Tacoma ambulatory surgery center associate medical director, and as a board member. During her time on the board of directors, she has served on the Finance, Audit, and Equity Governance Collaborative committees.
Dr. Reid completed her residency at University of Missouri, Kansas City, and medical school at Tulane University where she also earned her Master of Public Health. She has an undergraduate degree in physical and biological anthropology from Harvard University.
Her journey in medicine has been shaped by her educational and clinical training, and by the rich experiences serving in multiple leadership roles across WPMG. As an orthopedic surgeon, she has had the privilege of caring for our members in our south region, deepening her appreciation for the dedication, resilience, and excellence that define our clinicians and staff.
As the interim EMD, Dr. Reid brings a passion for advancing quality, equity, and innovation in care delivery, paired with a strong commitment to supporting our clinician well-being and organizational growth. The voices and perspectives of our teams are vital to ensure our medical group continues to thrive, and Dr. Reid is committed to listening and learning.
