Physician advocacy

Permanente physicians have an important voice in shaping the future of health care. We partner across the Permanente Medical Groups and with Kaiser Foundation Health Plan and Hospitals to uphold Kaiser Permanente’s physician-led integrated care delivery system as a model for the nation.

We do this by sharing insights and best practices with the health care industry, federal and state governments, and influencers to drive change that improves the care experience for all. We believe that the perspective of Permanente physicians, especially those in day-to-day practice, can have a positive impact when developing new laws and regulations.  Physicians and other health authorities are one of the public’s most trusted groups and are viewed as knowledgeable, credible sources on health care issues by policymakers.

We are committed to delivering evidence-based, person-centered care. Policy issues we’re focused on include value-based care, health care reform, physician workforce, and responsible health care innovation. Sign up now for Permanente Action to stay informed on current issues and communicate with policymakers regarding legislation that affects Kaiser Permanente and the practice of Permanente Medicine.

Protecting coverage and affordability for patients

More than 24 million people rely on enhanced premium tax credits to purchase affordable health coverage on their own. Congress needs to know what it would mean for you and your patients if they let the tax credits expire

Championing the physician perspective in D.C.

Physician advocacy is an extension of patient care. As trusted medical professionals, we can influence solutions to today’s pressing health care issues by engaging in the public policy process.

Three ways public policy can address workforce issues

Medical excellence requires teamwork. It’s crucial for the health of our patients that we’re able to fully staff these teams.

Protecting patient access to care at home

Advanced care at home offers qualified patients the opportunity to have their acute care needs treated in the safety and comfort of their own homes.
