SUMMARY:HIMSS: What's Next in Healthcare Transformation?
DESCRIPTION:Health care transformation took flight during the COVID-19 pandemic\, as organizations rapidly scaled up their digital investments and capabilities\, turning to telehealth and remote monitoring to deliver care while protecting patients\, physicians\, and health care staff. Borrowing a term from the finance world\, a “Black Swan Event” is a metaphor describing an unprecedented and unpredictable event at a point in time. COVID-19 epitomizes this metaphor by creating chaos\, uncertainty\, and so much more beyond what was expected or anticipated. In this HIMSS21 panel discussion\, “A ‘Black Swan Event’ Gave Healthcare Transformation Wings: What’s Next?”\, Permanente physician leaders will speak to how Kaiser Permanente’s COVID-19 response both elevated patient and physician expectations for health-related technologies and spurred a transformative mindset focused on innovation. This focus on innovation is likely to significantly improve the quality\, convenience\, accessibility\, and affordability of health care delivery for years to come.
