SUMMARY:Connected Health Virtual Summit: Changing the Dynamics of Patient-Centered Care With the Hospital at Home Concept
DESCRIPTION:Health systems across the country are moving more services out of the hospital and into the home\, creating new strategies that improve health outcomes and reduce wasteful expenses. These platforms often mix telehealth and remote patient monitoring with in-person care\, offering services that match and even go beyond what a patient would get in the hospital. \nIn the opening keynote for Xtelligent Healthcare Media’s 2-day Connected Health Virtual Summit\, executives from Kaiser Permanente and the Mayo Clinic will sit down for a virtual fireside chat to discuss their Hospital at Home strategies. They’ll talk about how they developed their programs\, how these services benefit both the patient and the care providers\, and how these programs set the stage for a more dynamic value-based care model that more and more providers and payers are embracing. \n\n  \nSpeakers\n\nStephen Parodi\, MD\, executive vice president of External Affairs\, Communications\, and Brand\, The Permanente Federation; associate executive director\, The Permanente Medical Group; president and CEO\, Mid-Atlantic Permanente Medical Group\nMargaret Paulson\, DO\, FACP\, medical director of Advanced Care at Home and Home Health\, Mayo Clinic Health System

SUMMARY:HIMSS: What's Next in Healthcare Transformation?
DESCRIPTION:Health care transformation took flight during the COVID-19 pandemic\, as organizations rapidly scaled up their digital investments and capabilities\, turning to telehealth and remote monitoring to deliver care while protecting patients\, physicians\, and health care staff. Borrowing a term from the finance world\, a “Black Swan Event” is a metaphor describing an unprecedented and unpredictable event at a point in time. COVID-19 epitomizes this metaphor by creating chaos\, uncertainty\, and so much more beyond what was expected or anticipated. In this HIMSS21 panel discussion\, “A ‘Black Swan Event’ Gave Healthcare Transformation Wings: What’s Next?”\, Permanente physician leaders will speak to how Kaiser Permanente’s COVID-19 response both elevated patient and physician expectations for health-related technologies and spurred a transformative mindset focused on innovation. This focus on innovation is likely to significantly improve the quality\, convenience\, accessibility\, and affordability of health care delivery for years to come. During this session\, speakers will also discuss how technology will continue to transform health care in the second half of 2021 and beyond. \n\n  \nSpeakers\n\nRichard S. Isaacs\, MD\, FACS\, co-CEO\, The Permanente Federation; CEO and executive director\, The Permanente Medical Group; president and CEO\, Mid-Atlantic Permanente Medical Group\nEd Lee\, MD\, executive vice president\, Information Technology\, and chief information officer\, The Permanente Federation; associate executive director\, The Permanente Medical Group

SUMMARY:SXSW: 'Reimagine\, Reboot\, Retool: Healthcare post-COVID'
DESCRIPTION:COVID-19 in many ways catapulted health care into the future as it propelled the rapid adoption of technologies such as telehealth\, drones that deliver medical supplies\, and germ-zapping robots. At the same time\, a U.S. public health infrastructure stuck in the era of the lowly fax machine hampered COVID-19 case reporting and contact tracing\, which are crucial to slowing the virus’ spread. \nAs part of this year’s virtual SXSW conference\, you’ll learn in this session about how the pandemic: \n\nAccelerated adoption of certain technologies that once seemed far-fetched;\nHighlighted technological\, structural and social divides that slowed efforts to control the virus; and\nMade the case for reimagining\, rebooting and retooling America’s health care infrastructure.\n\nSpeakers\n\nRichard S. Isaacs\, MD\, FACS\, CEO and executive director\, The Permanente Medical Group; president and CEO\, Mid-Atlantic Permanente Medical Group; co-CEO\, The Permanente Federation\nJennifer H. SUMMARY:Digital Medicine Conference: "From Innovation to Enterprise Transformation"
DESCRIPTION:NODE.Health presents the 3rd Annual Digital Medicine Conference\, convening leaders driving the movement to bring the rigor of evidence-based medicine to digital health. \nHealth care IT leadership has fundamentally changed over the last 10 years. With the technological wave of electronic health records (EHRs)\, there was a rapid growth of new positions such as CMIOs\, CHIOs\, Chief Innovation Officers\, as well as an ever-expanding team of analysts\, managers\, directors\, and vice presidents to help implement new EHR systems. As the years progressed\, CIOs have developed the skills to oversee EHR and other information and technology systems within the health setting as well as utilize the expanded teams of professionals to full effect. \nRecently\, however\, there has been a new technological wave of digital health and medicine that requires CIOs to broaden their role\, to interact with\, to oversee and most importantly\, to develop innovation within the healthcare system. In this panel discussion\, “From Innovation to Enterprise Transformation: What Happens When Purpose\, Passion and Persistence Meet the People\, Processes\, and Tech\,” speakers will use real-world case examples to showcase standardized approaches that aim to create an environment to sustain and scale digital medicine interventions and develop the skills to thrive in the digital era. \n\nTransformational thinking\, real-word innovation experience\, and the ability to connect multiple pieces of strategy\, technology and people\nHow health system leaders adapt modes of working to promote creative problem-solving across teams\nCreating a work environment that fits the dynamic needs of modern teams\, from hyper-collaboration\nCreating objectives and key results and taking a data-driven approach to leadership and transformation\n\nSpeakers\n\nDennis Truong\, MD\, regional telemedicine/mobility director\, Mid-Atlantic Permanente Medical Group\nWilliam Hasseltine\, chair and president\, Access Health International\nEdward Marx\, chief information officer\, Cleveland Clinic

SUMMARY:Healthcare of Tomorrow: "Healthcare Community Change-Agents"
DESCRIPTION:  \nU.S. News & World Report continues to advance its health care reporting\, analysis\, and industry insights by hosting the 7th annual Healthcare of Tomorrow summit. From Nov. 17 to 19\, 2019\, in Washington\, D.C.\, Healthcare of Tomorrow unites the nation’s top health care leaders – medical experts\, hospital executives\, policymakers\, insurers\, consumer advocates\, and industry analysts to exchange ideas\, share best practices\, and set new standards for patient care. \nValue and Population Health track\nImelda Dacones\, MD\nPermanente Medicine will be highlighted on a panel featuring Imelda Dacones\, MD\, CEO and president of Northwest Permanente. Dr. Dacones will be among the speakers on “Healthcare Community Change-Agents: Addressing the Social Determinants of Health” on Monday\, November 18\, 2019. Across the health care ecosystem\, awareness is growing of the importance – and potential payoff – of investing in screenings and programs to tackle the true drivers of well-being\, from food security and employment to early childhood literacy and housing stability. \nPhysicians and insurers alike increasingly understand that succeeding at value-based care and population health requires taking care of such unmet needs. Many hospitals and health systems have implemented programs\, such as investing in housing programs to address homelessness and embedding clinicians in schools and community organizations. Some states are finding ways to make their Medicaid programs more accommodating\, and the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services allowed Medicare Advantage plans to begin addressing some of these social factors this year.
